LOOKIN FOR CURLY secured the inside position in the tracking group, was under a slight hold through the first half, let loose at that point, bided time inside through the turn, then responded when set down near the quarter pole, rallied up the rail and got up in the final yards. WOODROW CALL took the early lead and attempted to slow the pace, maintained a narrow advantage to the far turn, then had something left when asked to go on, quickened midway on the turn, held on well to deep stretch but could not hold off the winner in the final yards. WEST IS WEST tracked three-wide to the far turn, made a mild bid, then faltered in the stretch. KING OF THE DISCO settled at the back of the compact field through the early stages, then struggled to keep up as the pace quickened, but did manage to improve a position. HUNTING FOR GOLD tracked close up three-wide to the far turn, then tired and lacked a finish. LEGAL MOUSSE lost action in the rear shortly after the break, was pulled up, and transported from the track via the equine ambulance.

DEL RAYO dueled through the first half-mile with NO ORDINARY TIGER, got the better of that rival on the far turn, then fought back gamely when challenged by KING ELVIS late on the far turn, gained the upper hand on that foe by mid-stretch but could not hold off the winner in the final yards. KING ELVIS tracked behind the dueling leaders through the early stages, advanced three-wide late on the far turn to bid for the lead, battled with a resurgent DEL RAYO to mid-stretch, but could not get past that one and weakened in the late stages. UNCHARTED was allowed to settle from the break, lost some ground on the pack going into the far turn, then ran on a bit late to improve. STRADIVARIAN settled near the back and was having to be coaxed along through the first half, then lacked a rally. NO ORDINARY TIGER dueled to the outside of DEL RAYO, trading the lead several times along the way, the gave way approaching the quarter pole and had little left for the stretch run.

COASTAL KID was away well then pressed the pace two-wide early, took command passing the half-mile pole, brushed up all challengers on the turn, then held sway through the stretch. COUNT DRACULA tracked two-wide behind the leading pair, followed COASTAL KID through the far turn and into the stretch, made a run at that one but could do no better than chase to the wire. LOGICAL MYTH was outpaced to the first turn, settled mid-pack inside through the early stages moved out to the two-path on the far turn, then launched a bid from the five-sixteenths marker, came four-wide into the stretch and finished well to move up into third. SIR MAXIMUS won the race into the first turn, then dueled to the inside of COASTAL KID to the far turn, was unable to kick on with the rest from the three-furlong pole, then was kept to task late to hold position. SEVENTEEN BLACK was held up in last position through the first half, but was pulling hard on the rider, moved up some while under a ride through the far turn, but flattened in the stretch and was unable to threaten. BY DECREED was the inside horse in the tracking pair to the far turn, went evenly late but was outfinished. BIG JACK lacked any early speed and was unable to mount a late threat despite saving ground throughout. DRINKING AGAIN raced three to four wide throughout, settled at the back of the pack early, then was unable to generate a significant rally in the stretch.

VORPAL made the front heading on to the main course and was left alone to dictate the early pace, held a clear led into the stretch then responded when set down and drew away to the wire. MCCLUSKY settled mid-pack, then ran on late to gain second. SUGAR BUZZ hustled to get forward position, settled inside behind the pacesetter, chased to the stretch then weakened a bit and was passed for the place. RUN BRYCE RUN was last going into the far turn, then made a wide move around that turn, came into the stretch with good momentum and improved. DEKUDYLAN settled at the back early, saved ground, made a mild bid on the inside through the far turn, but had trouble changing leads in the stretch and faltered. FIVE TWENTY SUNSET was never a threat. LIMITED HEATWAVE raced two or three off the rail through the early stages, then was outkicked in the stretch.
