GOLD PRIZE was unhurried from the start, settled at the back of the back early with a gap to the rest, bided time down the backstretch, was sent forward with three furlongs to run, rallied five-wide into the stretch, and finished with a rush under strong handling to be along in time. AUSTIN CRUISE settled near the back through the early stages, saved ground throughout, was in a bit tight in upper stretch, surged when clear, but was too late. MOHAYMEN HOLIDAY assumed the early lead without really being asked, then was left to dictate the pace, settled in a comfortable rhythm through the middle stages, responded when set down leaving the quarter pole, dug in under a threat through the stretch but was overtaken in the final yards. TREVAGGIO raced between horses in the tracking group, got an inside run into the stretch, finished up well, but came up on the short end of the three-way photo for the minor award. COVERT KAT raced four-wide throughout, had some trouble with the lead change in upper stretch, and was outfinished late. ONE TIME MARK tracked the early pace three-to-four wide to the far turn, then flattened out in the stretch. SHOGUN BE FAST was the inside horse in the tracking group, raced close up to the stretch, checked hard at the sixteenth marker, and lost all chance.

LOTTERY TICKET tracked the early pace in third position three-wide, responded when roused approaching the quarter pole, rallied under strong handling and urging, made the lead passing the furlong marker, and went clear in the end. SPARKLY broke well but ceded the lead to GLORY O, pressed the pace to the turn, then moved up to challenge for the lead near the quarter pole, finished well but was outkicked by the winner in the final yards. GLORY O was fastest from the gate, led the way into the turn, battled gamely to deep stretch, but was outfinished in the final yards. RAZORS EDGE ducked out at the start, making contact with SHERI'S PRADA, steadied, settled into stride, then moved up, raced inside with the second pair, was under a stiff drive passing the quarter pole, made a good run up the inside inthe stretch, but was outfinished for the minor award. SHERI'S PRADA got bumped and shuffled back at the start, then was last down the backstretch, kept to the inside, moved into contention on the turn, was finishing up well along the rail, but was outkicked late. STEALIN'TIME raced two-deep at the back of the field, was under a ride before the three-furlong pole, failed to change leads in the stretch and trailed the field home.

BAYOU BOY settled in mid-pack to the inside, moved up closer heading into the far turn, then had to steady briefly behind the tiring ECHO MARINE, made the lead in upper stretch, and kept in a steady drive to hold off a bid from a closing rival on the outside. FLY RED BIRD FLY got pinballed after the start, then caught four-wide into the first turn, advanced on the backstretch run, remained wide through the far turn, then put in a good finish, was closing the gap on BAYOU BOY in the final yards, but ran out of time. MUCHO MACHO CAM was hustled out of the gate but was outrun to the first bend, pressed the pace three-wide down the backstretch, was set down approaching the three-furlong pole, then under a full-out drive into the stretch, finished willingly, but was outkicked in the final yards. BRADIX had good speed from the start, seized the early advantage without really being asked, set the pace with ECHO MARINE a constant shadow to the far turn, disposed of that rival with three-furlongs to go, kicked on to leadinto the stretch, then weakened in the final furlong. MORO LEGEND settled at the back early, made a mild forward move through the turn, but flattened out in the stretch and could not threaten. ECHO MARINE pressed the early pace two-wide through the first half-mile, then weakened on the far turn, stopped, and was galloped out to the finish line and walked off.

DRAMA KING tracked three-wide in mid-pack, kept to task late to move up into the third position, while never a serious threat to the top two. OKLAHOMA FLAME broke best and attempted to slow the pace, ceded the lead to CAUSE IM THE KING heading into the turn, then came back on to bid for the lead at the quarter pole but could not go on with that one in upper stretch and weakened. LAST AFFAIR raced three-wide and close up to the early leaders, then slowed to a walk in the stretch and was eased to the finish. OTHERBROTHERDARYL was a little slow to begin, moved up closer to the front in the run down the backstretch, then had to be ridden to keep up as the pace quickened into the turn and was eased up and not persevered with when hopelessly behind and walked off. DOC HENRY RIDGE dropped back after a level start to race in last before the turn, was eased up, distanced and galloped out to the finish line, vetted, then transported back to the barn in the equine ambulance; was later reported to have bled.

MY GOOD GOOD BOY was off a step slow but quickly into stride, stalked the early pace two-wide to the turn, bid for the lead approaching the quarter pole, dueled a stubborn TRESILLIAN into the stretch, then got the upper hand before the furlong pole, and held clear to the finish. DERBY DATE settled in the middle of the tightly packed field through the early stages, was without a path forward early on the turn, then finished up well under urging and moved up to claim the second prize. ROCKETS RED FLAIR pressed the pace three-wide, came under a stiff ride to keep up through the turn, was never getting to the top two, but kept to task while racing on the left lead and managed to pick up the minor award. TRESILLIAN hustled up after a tardy start, made the lead passing the five-furlong pole, held a slight lead through the turn, battled gamely into the stretch, but weakened in the final furlong. WORTH LOOKING veered out at the start, then settled in four-wide early, came four-wide into the stretch, and finished evenly under a drive but could not improve. MY WIFE IS RIGHT was the early trailer, then came five-wide into the stretch, dove down the rail and chased the field to the finish. COLONEL BARTON was last away, moved up into contention in the run down the backstretch, struggled to keep up on the turn, and had nothing to offer in the stretch.

BRUCELEA dropped back after a level start, tracked two-wide between horses to the stretch, went through a seam in upper stretch, produced a good late surge under a strong hand ride, and ran down the leader in the shadow of the wire. BALSA was away well, took a slight lead early, with CARBONE keeping close to the outside, turned for home with a clear lead, and finished up well, but was unable to last. CARBONE ptressed the pace two-wide, finished well in a three-way sprint to the wire but came up short. BAD BEAT BRIAN was allowed to settle from the break, moved up the inside heading into the turn, responded when set down for the sprint to the wire, loomed a big threat in deep stretch, but was outfinished in the final yards. STAYED IN FOR HALF raced four-wide early, then outfinished in the stretch and was unable to improve. BLUE LIGHT was outpaced down the backstretch, chased the field from the back, made a mild bid coming off the last turn, but struggled with the lead change and faltered.
